In the home state of Rep. Jackie Walorski, Indiana, a two-car crash on Wednesday claimed the lives of three more people.
Walorski, 58, was traveling in an SUV with her press secretary, Emma Thomson, and the chairman of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, Zachery Potts.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office claims that at that point, a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed the Indiana State Road 19 median and struck them directly.
Along with Edith Schmucker, the 56-year-old driver of the second car, Thomson and Potts also perished in the incident.
Emma Thomson graduated from Bishop McCort Catholic High School.
Emma Thomson, a former member of staff for former U.S. Rep. John Joyce, attended Bishop McCort Catholic High School and obtained her diploma in 2012. She too passed away when she was 28 years old.
Thomson was the congresswoman’s director of communications, while Zachery Potts was in charge of her district.
She managed Dr. John Joyce’s congressional campaign for more than 1.5 years before that. She also served as his communication director for more than two years.
Emma was in charge of managing Michael C. Burgess’s communications from 2017 to 2019. She worked at Democracy Fund as a digital communication assistant, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The horrible car accident that killed Jackie Walorski, an Indiana congresswoman, also took the life of Emma Thomson on Wednesday.
Just after noon, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to a two-vehicle incident, according to the Associated Press.
Walorski, 58, Thomson, and employee Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana, perished after a motorist veered off the road and struck the SUV Walorski was in.
According to the officials, the 55-year-old driver of the other vehicle also died in the collision.
Emma Thomson: (Had She a Husband?
Emma Thomson’s death, which devastated her family and parents, is unknown to have involved a husband.
But Jackie Walorski was still wed to her spouse Dean Swihart, a teacher in the Mishawaka area, until her tragic death on Wednesday. After some time, in 1995, they became husband and wife.
In order to help feed and provide for the fundamental needs of the country’s disadvantaged children, Jackie and Dean moved to Romania as missionaries and started a nonprofit organization.
However, it is believed that the two resided in Jimtown, an unincorporated suburb west of Elkhart. His wife was a member of the huge Assemblies of God church South Gate Church in South Bend.
The mother of Emma Thomson, Linda, is the CEO and President of JARI.
Emma grew up in a house where knowledge was valued highly. Her mother is Linda Thomson, president and CEO of Johnstown Area Regional Industries.
She is also in charge of the entire JARI program’s public relations, strategic and tactical planning, reporting to community leadership, and fundraising.
oversees the Showcase for Commerce, shale gas projects, and efforts to draw foreign investment for the organization.
Prior to joining JARI, Thomson worked for 12 years as the authority’s executive director in Clearfield County. In 1983, she began working in economic development as the Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce director.
