The Arsenal striker has left the Gabon squad for AFCON 2017 after contracting Covid. He returned to his club on Monday and will now return to England. He played his last game for Arsenal against Everton on December 6.

The striker is also expected to return to his club, Nice. Despite his absence from the tournament, Aubameyang is still expected to return to the Premier League.

Why has PierreEmerick Aubameyang left Gabon at AFCON

In the past week, Aubameyang has been out of the Gabon squad for a number of reasons. He missed the team’s 1-1 draw with Ghana and travelled to Cameroon to be assessed by his doctor.

But the AFCON squad has been put on hold because of the striker’s health issues. Aubameyang will not be available to play for Gabon until he’s cleared to play. The Arsenal striker’s absence was confirmed last week, and the team’s football federation has said that they will get in touch with him in order to monitor his progress.

The Frenchman was allowed to travel to Cameroon with Mario Lemina and his Arsenal teammates. He missed Gabon’s opening group stage win over Comoros due to a blood disorder.

A few days later, he took another blood test and returned to France. Once again, he was ruled out. Aubameyang’s health is being monitored by the club, and it’s not clear when he’ll be able to play.
