Georgia native Willie Spence, who captured the nation’s heart during his stint on ‘American Idol’ in 2021, has died at the age of 23, according to a crash report from Tennessee Highway Patrol. The report states Spence was driving on I-24 East in Marion County at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when he exited the roadway.

Runner-up on “American Idol” On Tuesday afternoon, Willie Spence was killed in an automobile accident. He was just 23 years old.

Spence’s death following an accident in Jasper, Tennessee, a town in Marion County, has been confirmed by Fox News Digital.

According to the preliminary accident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at Mile Marker 147 on Interstate 24 East, a tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder.

The Jeep Cherokee, driven by the 23-year-old Georgian native, apparently left the road at around 4 o’clock and struck the trailer’s back end.

Lt. Bobby Clevenger tells Fox News Digital, “He hit the back of the tractor-trailer. The medical examiner was called from the scene… it was DOA at the scene.”The driver of the tractor-trailer, 68, was uninjured.”We are devastated about the passing of our beloved American Idol family member, Willie Spence. He was a true talent who lit up every room he entered and will be deeply missed. We send our condolences to his loved ones,” it reads.
